Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 21, 2026

Samva helps people discover and coordinate nearby rooms, activities, and shared tasks. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

We collect account information such as your email address, full name, date of birth, optional self-reported gender, username, interests, city, avatar and profile details, and authentication metadata. If you use Google sign-in, we receive the basic Google account information needed to sign you in, such as your Google account identifier, email, name, and profile image when provided. Your public profile uses your username; your real name and email are not shown to other users.

Samva does not currently request or use a mobile number for account registration or login.

Gender is optional and self-reported. We use it only for discovery filters and community spaces such as women's spaces. Samva does not verify gender or present it as a verified identity signal.

We collect room, chat, report, feedback, and uploaded image content that you create or send in the app. We also collect basic device, network, and log information needed for security, debugging, rate limiting, and abuse prevention.

Room and direct messages are private to their participants but are not end-to-end encrypted. Samva can access message content to operate the service and investigate user-submitted reports. Messages use encrypted transport and are encrypted in application storage.

Location

Samva asks for location during onboarding and when you create a room. If you grant permission, the app uses an approximate location for nearby discovery and room creation. You can decline permission and use city-level discovery instead. A room creator may separately choose an exact meeting point to release to active room members. Exact meeting coordinates are stored for that purpose but are not shown in discovery or on public room-share pages, which expose only a neighbourhood-level meeting area.

How We Use Information

We use information to create and secure your account, send verification codes, show relevant rooms, support chat and room participation, process reports, prevent abuse, improve reliability, and communicate important service updates.

We use reports, room history, feedback, and moderation activity to build trust and safety signals. These signals are behavior-based and do not mean Samva has verified someone's government identity.

Service Providers

We use trusted providers for hosting, database storage, email delivery, bot and abuse checks, media storage, and security checks. These providers process data only as needed to provide Samva. We do not currently operate a third-party crash-reporting service.

Our public website, including these legal pages, uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights. These services receive page-view and web performance data such as the page URL or route, referring source where available, coarse location, browser and device information, network type, and Core Web Vitals. Vercel describes these products as privacy-focused aggregate measurement and says they do not use cross-site identifiers or retain IP-address-linked visitor profiles. We do not intentionally include account details, message content, or other sensitive information in website URLs or analytics events.

Moderation And Safety

Uploaded media and rooms may be held for review before they are visible. Reports, room activity, feedback, profile details, and chat content may be reviewed when needed to enforce safety rules, investigate abuse, and protect users. We may limit, suspend, or remove accounts and content when needed.

Data Retention And Deletion

We keep active product data while your account and rooms require it. In-app notifications are normally removed after 90 days; metadata for deleted media after 30 days; private feedback comments after 180 days; and resolved reports, moderation records, audit events, and reported message evidence after 365 days. Open safety cases may remain until they are resolved. Limited pseudonymous safety evidence may survive account or room deletion during that period. Provider backups and logs follow separate security and legal retention schedules. You can delete your account in the app or read the deletion steps at samva.in/delete-account.
